First American Title Insurance Company filed a civil complaint in Fayetteville County, Pennsylvania against Mark Morrison, an attorney, his wife, Deborah A. DeFranks Morrison and Morrison Law Offices, 60 East Main St., Uniontown in connection with loan settlement services.
According to the Herald Standard, First American alleges that during the refinancing of a mortgage last year, Morrison and DeFranks Morrison created fraudulent and forged closing protection letters in the name of First American, failed to pay off the borrowers’ prior loans with the mortgage proceeds and that Morrison was not acting as an approved attorney for First American. Gateway was the funding lender.
The Herald Standard reports that Morrison, an administrative assistant district attorney in Fayetteville, was fired as a result of the civil allegations.
