Real estate attorney Jimmie Ray Lawson II, 33, Collinsville, Virginia has been charged with contempt of court and felony embezzlement. He is also being sued by Lawyer's Title Insurance Company, on allegations that he diverted $1.5M in closing funds to his personal use and being investigated by the Virginia State Bar. Allegations are that Lawson diverted his clients' closing funds for real estate transactions to invest in real estate, a night club and a couple of Humvees. In January, Riddick Bowe obtained a $1 million judgment against Lawson on claims that Bowe wired $625,000 to Lawson to close on the purchase of a home in Fairfax County, Virginia. Lawson allegedly used the money for personal investments.
