Unlicensed Mortgage Broker Shut Down in Nebraska

Thursday, May 18 2006 07:04

The Nebraska Department of Banking and Finance (NDBF) issued an Order to Cease and Desist against James Campbell, 392 W. Lakeshore Drive, Lincoln, Nebraska. The April 17 Order states that Campbell was doing business as a mortgage banker without a license or registration with the State of Nebraska.

Campbell was operating as a mortgage banker out of an office located at 140 N. 8th St., Lincoln, Nebraska. According to facts discovered during a NDBF investigation, Campbell was a former employee of Omaha Prime Mortgage, Inc. (OPM), a mortgage company based in Omaha, and was advertising the Lincoln office as a branch of OPM.

Information obtained from OPM indicates that Campbell is no longer with the company and has not been an employee for over a year. According to OPM, it does not have a Lincoln office, and Campbell has no authority to close loans on its behalf.

NDBF requests that Nebraskans report any transactions they have had with Campbell by calling Review Examiner Karen Reynolds in Lincoln at 471-2171 or via the Department’s toll free Consumer Hotline at (877) 471-3445.
