Fiji Paradise turns to Nightmare

Four years ago, Helen and Gary Stephens of Arnold, California decided to make Fiji their home. They paid $165,000 for eight acres including stretch of beach and began building their tropical dream house near the town of Savusavu, on the island of Vanua Levu. Since then, they allege, the developer they bought the land from recorded false easments, denied them the ability to access their land and corrupted local officials. Okay, so this doesn't have anything to do with mortgage fraud.

Fraudster Summers in Fiji

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinal has an interesting article about Kenneth Onapolis - a globe-trotting fugitive who is trying to escape a prison sentence for in Wisconsin for fleeing charges back in 1993. Apparently he used many aliases and managed to obtain some interesting jobs (he was even appointed as an honorary diplomatic consul to Cyprus in 1996!) There are only two reasons this felon's travels appear in this blog: 1. In 1997, he was charged with using a false social security
