An in-depth review of mortgage related complaints received between 2008 and 2010, was reviewed in order to determine whether the allegations made in the complaints violate laws enforced by the Idaho Attorney General and, if so, whether there is evidence to warrant further action.

In section 5, the report delves into the Attorney General’s efforts to address allegations of mortgage “fraud,” beginning in 2005, when the Consumer Protection Division received its first mortgage modification complaint regarding an Idaho foreclosure rescue company. An outline of the Attorney General’s actions through 2010 includes summaries of his enforcement actions, descriptions of his consumer education campaigns, and a discussion of his mortgage mediation program.

“The report is the result of this review and analysis,” Idaho Attorney General Wasden said. “It includes an examination of the national events leading to Idaho’s housing problems, a discussion of the specific areas of concern demonstrated by Idaho’s homeowners, and presents suggestions regarding how stakeholders can work together to address Idaho’s housing crisis.”

This just shows how draining the issue of mortgage fraud is on our public resourses, not just private individual’s resources.
