Woman Accused of Buying with Counterfeit Checks

Wendy Jean-Francois, 44, Morrisville, Pennsylvania was ordered to stand trial in Bucks County, Pennsylvania on charges of theft by deception, forgery and passing bad checks. According to media reports, police allege that she gave Rainbow Assurance checks for $57,000 and $6,000 and a letter on what appeared to be Wachovia stationery in order to obtain a $228,700 mortgage and purchase a house. Her defense attorney, Andrew Schneider, denied that Jean-Francois committed fraud. According to Associated Press reports, he said “The theft of money that is used to buy a house doesn’t mean she stole the house.”
